 Benihana
Restaurant at 912 Ridge Lake Boulevard in Memphis was totally destroyed
by fire on the morning of February 22, 2008. The distinctive building
had been a popular eatery for Memphians for 29 years.The Memphis Fire Department reported it determined the building did not have a working sprinkler system at the time of the blaze.  There
were conflicting reports as to whether the restaurant would rebuild,
with an almost immediate response that it would, then a question being
raised as to the ultimate decision. However, Benihana corporate offices
assured Memphians it intends to rebuild at the same site. A rebuilt Benihana Restaurant opened at the same location late in January, 2009. — Depending on the architecture of the new facility, this page may be removed since the landmark may have been restored. |
